Our workshop, ‘The Ritualized Moment’, is underway this week. Thirteen participants are joining us for a theatre laboratory designed for creators, actors, dancers, directors, and designers. Presented in partnership with Aluna theatre, the workshop is being led by Modern Times’ Soheil Parsa and Aluna’s Beatriz Pizano and Trevor Schwellnus.

We’re working in both Spanish and English, using the poetic ‘moon monologue’ from Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding / Bodas De Sangre as a starting point, to explore movement, voice and the highly visual language of Lorca’s text.

Our workshop participants are Ximena Sanchez, Lilliana Suarez, Navneet Kaur, Azeem Nathoo, Cass Van Wyck, Kevin Chew, Lilia Leon, Jessica Zepeda, Carla Melo, Roshanak Jeberi, Luis Rojas, and Ali Alavi. We were also joined for one evening by Denisse Salvent Vargas.

A final presentation of our group’s work will be part of Aluna Theatre’s Annual Cabaret, ‘A Celebration of Lorca’, this Saturday January 24th at Aluna Studio. The evening will feature more than 20 artists presenting theatre, dance, music and poetry – and our own Soheil will be a special guest, reading Lorca’s poetry in Farsi.

Tickets are going fast, so get more info and book your ticket for the cabaret in advance here.
